Functionality


The main purpose of AgrarGIS is to automate handling and management of applications for funding agricultural areas:

  • Storing, editing, view and analysis of data about agricultural lands, related objects and applicants.
  • Printing farm maps for applications.
  • Import and georeferencing of scanned farm maps edited by applicants.

SINED developed the following parts of the GIS:

  • Software for printing farm maps:
    • A library for creating and registering farm maps (PDF files) for an applicant for an application year.

      The printing is optimized, so that the agricultural areas of the applicant are totally represented on minimal number of maps with a desired maximal scale, and each such area is labeled only on one map.

      In addition to the map image, each generated map (see the image) contains legend, overview map, information about the application, barcodes, and georeferencing points whose coordinates are stored in the database.

    • An application for batch print of farm maps.
  • Software for import of scanned farm maps:
    • Components for recognition reference points of scanned farm maps, reading their barcodes and import the map images to a raster catalog.
    • Extension of the WGEO application for the batch import of scanned farm maps.
  • Framework of an ArcMap based GIS application, which allows starting and managing the application per an API.
  • A library for customization of the ArcMap user interface.
  • ArcMap commands and tools for the following operations:
    • Editing scale limits and transparency of a layer
    • Zoom to selected layer
    • Pan by coordinates
    • Selection of a geometry part (vertex or segment) of a feature/element
    • Displaying of selected objects (features, graphic elements, vertices and segments) in a dockable tree view.
  • Persistence layer for the object-oriented, safe and typified access to the data stored in three databases (alphanumeric data, vector data and raster data).
  • Geodatabase loading test: an application that simulates editing operations performed by one user and logs the results in the database.
  • Object class extensions and an application for updating spatial relations and intersections stored in the database.
