The project consisted in developing the full-function Web portal for the Agency for Quality in Medicine, Cologne (AQuMed www.aezq.de). The portal consists of four parts: AQuMed itself and three smaller portals of the member organizations (Patient Information Service, Guideline Information Service and Q-M-A).
About 10 content management systems were examined during the first stage of the project and the most suitable CMS was chosen. Later this CMS was extended and adapted in order to meet all project requirements.
As a result, AQuMed was implemented in Zope with our own extensions in Python, DTML and TAL. Dynamic HTML was also widely used for original multilevel menus in each portal part.
Each document in the portal is created by users with special WYSIWYG editor and displayed using advanced templates technique (see Image).
There is a lot of useful functions available for each portal part such as: full-text and per property Search Engine, News, various Feedback forms, Discussion boards, etc. All configurations such as Menu editing or Discussion board administration are available through the CMS.
For each part of the portal there is a function for importing content of specified types from CSV files to the CMS.
